Spanish 1 is an introduction to the Spanish language. Students are expected to learn to COMMUNICATE in Spanish; speaking, writing, listening and reading. They are also introduced to the culture of Spanish-speaking people.
I am a proud member of the Inaugural Coyote Staff. I am deeply invested in the success of our school, staff and students. My career as an educator started after an amazing preparation at Grand Canyon University 25 years ago. I love teaching and making a difference in the lives of our students through positive and effective relationships.
In addition to teaching Spanish, I assist students in developing a strong portfolio in community service. Whether through Paws for a Cause, GC105, or some other organization, I think a tremendous amount of growth comes through service to others. Colleges and universities know this and look for students who have dedicated themselves to volunteering and investing in their communities. One aspect of Paws for a Cause is our dedication to honoring our nation's veterans. Through Veterans Heritage Project, we pair students with vets. The vet is interviewed by the student. The student then writes an essay which is published in a book called Since You Asked and is cataloged in the Library of Congress.
I have been a "Stuco Kid" since I was in high school and am honored to work with the Student Council of CVHS. Our council is awesome; planning all types of events on campus that benefit the entire student body. It is hard work, but it is a ton of fun, too!
Lastly, my favorite pastime is traveling. Culture Club spends every summer traveling to the most-incredible places! Whether to Australia and New Zealand, England, France and Spain, or Costa Rica and Nicaragua, our students LIVE the experiences others only read about. Join us in 2017 to England, Ireland and France!
